Ok, Happy Hustle High, by Rie Takada, is my first manga review, even though it's the last book I've bought. However, I loved it so much, I was dying to write about it. You could say it's just another High School romance. However, it has the most unique characters I've seen in a long, long time. The main character is Hanabi Ozora, a 16-year old girl who's popular in her all-girl's school for often coming to the rescue of friends and being bold and assertive, as well as for her constantly frizzy hair. She's quite pretty, despite her "macho chick" attitude. (I was amazed at how much this is always so well portrayed by her body language). When her school is integrated with Meibi High, an all-boy's school, Hanabi falls for one of the most popular boys there- the vicepresident of the student council, Yasuaki Garaku. His character is just as original as hers, and definitely not what you'd expect, but I don't want to spoil the book for you, because even though I've read so much manga already, Happy Hustle High surprised me with every page. It has great pacing, along with original, yet believable characters, beautiful drawings and quite a few funny parts. Best manga I've read in a long time! Definitely worth your money. Usually I'd be more explicit about the story, but I don't want to spoil anything for you. Just go and buy it! If you like Shojo manga you'll love this fresh approach to a high school romance.

Cover:

Publisher: VIZ (Usa) Shogakukan (Jap.)

Japanese title: H3 High

Genre: Shojo (Romantic Comedy)

Art: ☆☆☆☆☆

Story: ☆☆☆☆

Characters: ☆☆☆☆☆

General: ☆☆☆☆ - Must buy! 秊

Hello, Welcome to Ponzu! Manga Reviews. I'm an avid reader of manga (japanese comics) and in the past two years I've amassed a collection of over 100 tankoubon, or graphic novels. So I thought of giving my opinion about them, as well as upcoming manga, in my blog. Hopefully you'll come across excellent manga you never heard about here, and perhaps save money on one that isn't really worth buying. I'll also add links that will be useful to serious or aspiring manga collectors. I will also comment on american and korean manga. So if you're japanese and speak some english, you may want to check some of the best american manga out there. Just like manwha, american manga has kind of a "different flavor". So if you're used to japanese only comics, american manga may be an interesting change. Of these, I will mostly mention the best ones, as there are too many which are bad. As american manga artist progress, more worthwhile graphic novels are appearing. I hope my reviews will be of good quality so that you will look forward to them. Please feel free to send me your comments. Thank you very much! 本当にありがとう! 撚
